18th Annual
INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY ART SHOW

March 8 to April 19, 2014

at The Orillia Museum of Art and History (OMAH),
30 Peter Street South, Orillia, Ontario

Theme:  IDENTITY

The International Women’s Day Art Show has become a major event in the area
since its inception by Mary Ann Tully and Linda Tiffin in 1997. Although the exhibit
has been held in five different venues over the years and continues to evolve,
it remains non-profit and independent. An inclusive, positive spirit persists at the
heart of the show.

MISSION STATEMENT

We as women artists have something to say which is different from the ideas and
images expressed by men. Our history and experiences as women have shaped
us to view the world from our own perspectives.

The International Women’s Day Art Show honours and celebrates women’s creative expression, in both a visual and written form. Its main goal is to encourage women
to express themselves artistically in a themed group show, which is not juried and
therefore inclusive. The spirit of the exhibit is one of affirmation and co-operation.

THE FORUM

The main objectives of The Women's Forum are to provide an opportunity for women
to share their stories of art making and to nurture supportive connections among female
artists. The environment of the forum should be non-judgmental and enjoyable for the
women participants. Wherever possible, chairs will be set up in a circle to foster this    atmosphere.

Please read the information on the following pages carefully.
We look forward to your participation in this inspiring annual event!

We Remember

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Wall of Smalls - Joint Venture with Zephyr Gallery

A message from OFAA Exec Pat Beecham.

Since November 24th is the Santa Claus Parade day, and streets will be closed, and parking at a premium, we have decided to change the intake for the “Walls of Smalls” show to Saturday November 23rd from 1-5, and Monday November 25th from 9 am - 11 am.

Bring your submission sheet with your art work in to Zephyr Art Gallery, 11 Peter St. at those times. Remember, there is an unlimited number of items that you can bring in. If we get too much to put up right away, each artist will be as well represented as possible, and anything that didn’t get hung at first will quickly replace that which is sold.

If you are bringing in pieces other than paintings or photographs, such as jewelry and pottery (and other items that haven’t come to my mind yet), please let us know by either phoning or emailing me. This will help with advanced publicity. My phone number is 705 484-0221, and my email is beecoop@cottagecountry.net.

Please check your email for the downloadable form to fill out and bring with you.
