What is your 2014 Art Resolution?

Are you like me and make new years resolutions? I make quite a few so that I do manage to accomplish at least one thing by years end :)  But what about artistically speaking?  Do you ever make any new resolutions just for your art?

I hadn't thought about it as I work at my art all the time whenever time allows after my full time job. My art table is always setup in my former music room which is now completely art except for the 3 bodrum drums on the walls. But for others, like writer's block, they find they can no longer make time for their art. They step away and then as the weeks, months and years pile on, their canvases and paints are are tucked away and forgotten. If this sounds like you, why not make 2014 the year you root out those paints and dust off the canvas or sketch books, or watercolour paper and give it a go again!  Maybe sign up for an art class or two to dusty off the rusty edges. There are many artists in the Orillia area offering one day workshops or mini weekend workshops perfect to brush up or learn new skills.

Happy New Years 2014 and may this be the best year yet for all of you and your art.

Pick up for the "Walls of Smalls" show will take place at Zephyr Art Gallery from 2-5 on Saturday Jan. 11, andSunday from 2:30-4:30 on Sunday Jan. 12.  If you can't be there, please arrange with someone to pick up for you, or let me know.

Happy New Year

Here’s wishing you a wonderful year full of art, beauty, creativity and pleasure in your self-expression all year long!  Have you made painting goals or artistic resolutions for 2014?  Isn’t it wonderful that the beginning of a New Year gives us the opportunity and challenge to look at our creative side and challenge ourselves to go another step forward.  I’d love to hear about your artistic resolutions and plans J

 January Classes  I now have confirmed dates for my painting classes at Michaels for January.  The schedule covers several Monday afternoons,Wednesday evenings and a Saturday afternoon, so there is a good choice of times available, depending on your schedule. 

Still Life          Wednesday,           January 8 at 6:30 pm         

Landscape   Monday,          January 13 at 1 pm            

Landscape   Wednesday,  January 22 at 6:30 pm       

Floral              Saturday,        January 25 at 1 pm            

Floral              Monday,          January 27 at 1 pm            

 If none of these classes suit your schedule please let me know so I can create a better schedule for next month!

 Also, you might find of interest that Michaels is holding a Classroom Open House on Saturday, January 11 am – 2 pm.  They often offer specials at these occasions, so that might be a good time to drop by.

 Registration/Cancelation: There were a couple of classes in December that had to be canceled due to the fact that we had only 1 registration. Michaels requires that we have a minimum of 2 students per class.  I contact the store approximately 24 hours prior to a class time to find out if the class will run.  If there is only one person I try my best to re-schedule them to another class. If you have had this experience but have not used your registration yet, please let me know. I can reschedule you to the date that will suit you best.  To avoid disappointment you could team up with another student or see if you can find a friend to come with you! It adds to the fun component!
