Festival of Banners needs our help

( an email sent to Pat Beecham from OMAH) Hi Patricia, I'm a member of the OFAA and also an employee at the Orillia Museum of Art & History. I'm in charge of the Festival of Banners this year and I was wondering if we could get some help from the association. Festival of Banners is an annual community arts project that originated in 2007 by Leslie Fournier. In 2010, the museum adopted the festival but due to our building renovations last year, the festival did not run. We had our 2014 call for entries February 1 - 28 but unfortunately the response wasn't great.. we had a lot of people take entry forms, just not a lot brought back. We are going to continue to accept submissions until we reach our goal of 100 banners. Currently we have 20 submissions. This year's theme is "Historic Orillia - A Growing Community" and applicants are encouraged to research the history of Orillia and paint a banner to tell a story. I've attached our press release for you, which showcases 2 examples of the submissions we've received so far, please feel free to send it out to members. There are already a few OFAA members who are doing banners, Betty Wells & Gwen Reilly, but we would love to have more! Entry forms are available at the museum & entry fees are as follows: $10 youth (8-18) & $20 adult (19+). Our museum hours are Tuesday - Saturday 10am - 4pm & Sunday 1pm - 4pm. If you or any of your members have any questions, I can be contacted by email s.vessios@gmail.com or by phone 705-326-2159. Thanks so much, Samantha Vessios
